I don’t often try to steal shots but this was too unusual a location to miss out on. This was captured in the parking lot of a department store as it was being torn down. I waited until just after the crew had left for the day then grabbed the shot as quick as possible. There were no posted “No Trespassing” signs but I would hate to have missed this capture if I asked for permission to shoot the site and was told no. It’s easier to ask for forgiveness than permission as they say. In the end though, I was able to shoot this HDRI without incident.
The lighting and the sky don’t really say demolition site or urban decay, especially the crepuscular rays peeking through the clouds, but I still thought this would be a great shot to have in the catalog. The opportunity, at least for me, doesn’t come along everyday to capture a demolition site.
